Many of us are excited by the fact that the T-80 will accept a 72 volt nominal array, giving us a nice margin of flexibility for the placement of our solar modules...but did you know that cold temperatures affect whether or not you will be able to utilize this feature at you particular location? It's a complex calculation based on the VOC of the type of modules you anticipate using, the typical low temperatures you see (particularly at sunrise) and the nominal array voltage you wish to use for your system. The T80 captures up to 35% more power from the photovoltaic (PV) array.  The Patent-Pending MPPT algorithm starts early and locks onto the peak power during rapidly changing insulation and temperature.  The T80 includes a built-in energy monitor using Trimetric TM   Technology from Bogart Engineering and remote communications options including monitoring via PC’s, the Internet, and a full-featured wireless remote data display.

Installers like the integrated energy monitor (Trimetric™), the easy automatic set-up, the optimized MPPT energy harvest, the Wireless Remote Display, and especially the 80 Amps at higher temperatures. Above 45 degrees C/113 degrees F, the output current is reduced gradually to protect the life of the T80 and then automatically ramped up as the temperature decreases.  High-efficiency power circuits and robust thermal design minimize heat generation.   The internal temperature-controlled variable speed fan runs just fast enough to maintain optimum reliability.   

 The Apollo Solar T80 Turbocharger is a premium MPPT charge controller designed especially for larger power systems.  A single unit can process up to 5300 watts of PV power.  The PV modules can be wired in series up to 72 VDC nominal (140 Voc max and multiple T80’s can be paralleled for higher currents. The unit supports flooded lead-acid, gel, and absorbed-glass-mat batteries in 12, 24, 36, and 48 V configurations.  It provides four-stage charging with adjustable set points for all parameters.

The T80 Turbocharger TM includes a built-in energy monitor based on Trimetric technology which tracks power production and consumption then calculates the energy remaining in the battery. An External Shunt is required... you can use your existing shunt, the circuit board for the shunt is included with the T-80 unit.  State of Charge (SOC) is displayed in Percent Full, Amp-hours and bar graph format. This is the “gas gauge” that is essential in battery based systems. If you don't have a shunt already, order one with your T-80 purchase.

The T80 goes further by recording one year of historical data on energy production, usage, and number of days since fully charged. The Remote Displays show all the information at a glance at a convenient location.

 The Wired version is plug and play. Either Remote Display can be added to any T80 Turbocharger TM in the field.  The serial port in the T80 provides the data and power for the Remote Readout using a 4 wire cable. The wired version uses standard CAT5 cable (not included) and can be wired up to 1000 feet away. Includes a Network Option Card for connecting to the T80 Turbocharger.
