No Scheduled Maintenance
Beacon's flywheels may be installed underground to free space and improve site
aesthetics. All flywheel components are housed in a sealed container. An
internal vacuum system eliminates friction caused by air drag.

ROI.
Real-time Monitoring
Twelve parameters of flywheel and system performance can be monitored remotely.
Active signaling of power outage events is also available.
Sustainable Technology
Flywheels eliminate the lead acid disposal issues of batteries and do not
require the fuel of generator sets. Therefore, permitting is simplified and
ground contamination and safety issues are avoided.
Temperature Tolerance

So bookmark this page! As yet we have no experience with them here at The Solar Biz but, it does look like a very good answer the very old problem of energy storage.
Till now all we have that works cheaply is the Civil War technology lead acid storage battery. I have been in the battery business thirty-four years and I can honestly say that when lead acid batteries are gone, I for one will not miss them.
