The Proposal

Her Take:

What a magnificent warm tropical night it was! New Years Eve 2007. Zach's family takes a yearly trip to somewhere tropical and exotic and last year it was Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We had all rented a house there that had a wonderful balcony overlooking the bay. Each night a pirate ship sailed by (for the amusement of the tourists) and shot off  a really cool array of fireworks. New Years Eve, this night was special. We new the display would be extra amazing because of the nature of the holiday and we were excited and waiting in anticipation! Sure enough, here came the boat. It was really spectacular because this boat would stop right in front of our house down in the bay, as if it were meant for us! The clock hit 12:00 am and it seemed as though the world exploded. Excited yells and shouts of "Feliz Anos Nuevos" (Happy New Year) echoed through the neighborhood. I went out of my way to plant an awaited kiss on Zach's lips and through the  noise we were suddenly alone as he held me in his arms and asked me "Will you marry me?" It takes my breath away and I get a lump in my throat as I think back on the most romantic fairytale moment of my life. It was perfect.

His Take:

I have known Patty for around six years. If someone would have told me a couple of years ago that we would someday be married, I wouldn't have believed them! We had a very slow start, which may have been the best thing for us. As I have gotten to know the true Patty, I found that she is a "real gem" and that I was very privileged to know her. The fact that she loved me was a great gift. Patty is very smart, sometimes funny, and always an angel (even when she is not). With Patty, what you see is what you get. And what I see is a very loving, sweet young lady with a profound outlook on life.

I realized Patty would be a great wife and wasted no time in proposing. So on our family trip to Mexico we got engaged. I would say her take is pretty accurate. I didn't have a ring at the time but Tom (Patty's Dad) gave me the go-ahead, Patty said yes, and here we are!!
