How The Smart-Valve Works Normal Operation
During the first flush of
rain, water flows down the
down pipe. The deflector
directs water over the valve
ball. A small very small
percentage of the water will
enter the valve ball through
its screened openings.
The valve ball acts will
slowly fill with water and
will eventually descend, due
to the increasing weight of
water in it, and close the
valve. Rainwater then fills
up the down pipe and flows
to your water storage tank.
When the rain stops, water
is retained in the down pipe
until it slowly drains out
of the drip hole; this
delays the resetting of the
valve which saves water
during intermittent rains.
The spring resets the valve
ball automatically when the
water is drained.
